Online debate: NL-CGIAR ‘Food Fights’ on ‘Public policy towards food system transformation’
NWO-WOTRO cordially invites you to a debate series of three online NL-CGIAR ‘Food Fights’. Two experts from the NL-CGIAR research programme will participate.

For each of these events, two experts from the NL-CGIAR research programme will act as the proponent and opponent of a provocative statement on global food security, following from the NL-CGIAR synthesis study. The audience will be invited to respond to the debaters and contribute to an in-depth discussion.
The Food Fights are organised in the run-up to the NL-CGIAR conference (2 & 3 November 2022).
The first Food Fight will focus on the role of public policy in food system transformation. For registration, please go to the link at the bottom of this invite.
Debate 1: Public policy towards food system transformation
The statement that will be up for debate is:
Food system transformation cannot take place without a leading role by public institutions
Debaters:
Dr. ir. Inge Brouwer, Wageningen University & Research Associate professor at the Division of Human Nutrition and Health (NL-CGIAR Senior Expert on Food Systems for Healthier Diets)
versus
Mona Dhamankar MSc, KIT Royal Tropical Institute Advisor on rural development management and livestock-based interventions (NL-CGIAR Seed Systems Development project ‘Improving access to quality food & forage seed for the dairy sector in Kenya and Uganda’)
