The COVID-19 pandemic has put the immediate survival of many businesses at risk, particularly small businesses in developing countries and emerging markets The pandemic has strengthened the worldwide call to build back better. Building Back Better is the pursuit of a sustainable and inclusive recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, including for small businesses. . Building back to business-as-usual is not possible nor desirable: we need to go ‘beyond recovery’. Small business development: beyond recovery to ‘Building Back Better’ is the topic of this online conference.

PUM Netherlands senior experts provides support to small business entrepreneurs in developing countries and emerging markets through knowledge sharing.  PUM has witnessed the impact of the pandemic on entrepreneurs from first-hand experience.   

Together with these entrepreneurs and other partners in small business development, we will explore:  

  • opportunities to build more sustainable and inclusive businesses after the COVID-19 pandemic;  
  • the role of Dutch knowhow & entrepreneurship to tap into these opportunities.   

Under the inspiring guidance of Petra Stienen, former diplomat, author and independent advisor, PUM looks forward to discuss these opportunities together.
