Showcasing Food Innovation and Partnership During the Dutch Trade Mission to Kenya
During the recent Dutch trade mission on Sustainable Agriculture to Kenya, Her Majesty Queen Máxima and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Liesje Schreinemacher witnessed firsthand how female entrepreneurs and food innovators are helping to reduce food loss and improve food security.

Examples included inspiring initiatives by Tei Mukunya Oundo (NatureLock Foods) and Doriane Nzorubara (dsm-firmenich), demonstrating how smart technologies can transform surplus vegetables into healthy, tasty, and long-lasting products.
As Netherlands Food Partnership, we help connect people, organisations, and knowledge to bring forward food technologies and innovations that make a real difference. Our role is not to support one company or solution, but to help build inclusive partnerships that make the pie bigger for everyone.
As part of our broader engagement in Kenya, we’re also working with Dutch and Kenyan actors to:
- Advance insect farming as a sustainable waste management and animal feed solution
- Develop cold chain partnerships that reduce food loss and improve access to nutritious food
Together with the Ministries of LVVN, regional embassies, and private sector actors, we’re helping build the conditions for long-term food systems transformation.
